Gear Connection provided a complete High Definition Video Projection & Playback System using Sanyo PDG-DHT8000L 1080p projectors and an Analog Way OPS300 Switcher. The Stumpfl 7 x 12 screens were suspended from a Truss Arch covered in white spandex to blend in with the room decor. The truss also provided rigging points for elevating the JBL SRX712 Speakers used as Mains and complimented by JBL VRX918SP Subwoofers and Bag End TA6000 front fills. The Audio system was fed by a Yamaha LS9-32 digital console with wireless iPad control. Production intercom was addressed through the use of the ClearCom Tempest2400 wireless system.

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles ordained 60 men to the permanent diaconate in Santa Barbara in June. It was the largest group of deacons ordained at one time in the history of the archdiocese and possibly in the country.
Gear Connection was honored to supply a time-aligned distributed audio system consisting of (24)JBL Vertec VT4889's, (12)MC218 Subwoofers, & (12)JBL VRX932-LA's to cover the massive venue. In addition, an expansive JBL monitor system was utilized to provide fold-back for the 80 person choir accompanied by a 40 piece orchestra, along with Yamaha FOH & MON consoles and a Complete Microphone package.
Adjacent to Alhambra and Monterey Park, just 5 miles east of downtown Los Angeles, the Luckman Theatre is home of the critically acclaimed Luckman Jazz Orchestra, seats 1,152, and features one of the largest stages in Los Angeles. Contemporary art exhibitions in the Luckman Gallery have garnered national and international press attention. A small amphitheatre provides a stage area for concerts, catered receptions, and dancing on the Street of the Arts. The final component, the Intimate Theatre, a modular 300-seat theatre, had its inaugural performance on November 18, 2004.

Every year, the University of Southern California's Program Board hosts SpringFest, a multi stage festival featuring many musical acts throughout the day concluding with performances from National Touring Headliners. A much anticipated event every year, The Roots, T-Pain, The Game, Snoop Dogg & Xzibit, DeLa Soul, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Wolfgang Gartner, Big Sean, Travis Barker, Mix Master Mike, and Walk the Moon are among some of the talent that has come to USC to perform at this annual live music show in McCarthy Quad.

A mere five days after their debut performance on “Saturday Night Live” and one day after their single “Thrift Shop” went quadruple platinum, the chart topping Hip-Hop duo Macklemore and Ryan Lewis headlined Occidental College’s 2013 Springfest.
Gear Connection was tasked with complete Technical Event Production for the concert handling everything from designing the Stage & Rigging System, to providing Temporary Power, Supplying the Audio, Video, & Lighting systems and even advancing the show with Artist Management. As usual, the JBL Vertec Line Array system was used for Mains and a JBL monitor system provided audio on stage. The Lighting rig was comprised of (48)Elation Opti-Tri Pars for Stage Wash and (12) Elation Platinum Beam 5r moving light fixtures. The Video content was projected through a SANYO PDG-DHT8000L onto a 7 x 12 Rear Projection Screen.

The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is one of the premier sporting events in Southern California. More than 200,000 spectators attend the three-day event, which takes place on the streets of downtown Long Beach. Bringing an added element of entertainment to the racing weekend, at the conclusion of daily on-track activities thousands of fans are treated to a great show featuring National Touring Music Acts.
Gear Connection is tasked with providing a (32) Cabinet JBL Vertec sound system, full JBL Stage Audio package, and complete Backline packages per the various artists' requirements. Doing shows with the likes of Joan Jett, Steppin Wolf, and Brett Michaels, just to name a few, makes this annual event something to look forward to every year!
Wahoo's Fish Taco and Doheny Days, in conjunction with KROQ, present the Dirty Heads on the Monster Energy Stage at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point! Celebrating the release day of their new album "Cabin by the Sea", the band performed for thousands of their loyal fans on a perfect summer afternoon at the beach. A few days later a follow-up unplugged performance was held to celebrate the Grand Opening of Wahoo's in Huntington Beach, California.

An annual outdoor festival featuring performances from national touring acts, this year's event headlined the DJ duo known as White Panda.
Gear Connection provided total event management from concept development and set design, to artist advance and on-site execution. An expanded version of the Stage Line SL250 trailer stage was used for this show providing the necessary rigging points for the 10mm LED Video Wall, a JBL Vertec Sound System, the stage wash package and the Elation Platinum Beam 5R movers.
With a visionary gift from music-industry leaders Jimmy Iovine and Andre "Dr.Dre" Young, the University of Southern California announced that it is establishing a new academy to inspire innovative, entrepreneurial thought in business, design, marketing and the arts.
Due to a last minute logistical change, Gear Connection was asked to provide the Audio Visual Infrastructure necessary to broadcast the live remote Press Conference for the announcement. Coordinating an overnight prep, load-in, and set-up, of an EAW KF650 Sound system, Total Structures rigging grid, and hi-res video wall, hundreds of observers as well as members of the media were able to witness the historic event.

New Hampshire held its primaries on January 10, 2012. The state is historically the first in the nation to hold presidential primaries, and moved its date up from February after Florida moved its primary date to January 31. Mitt Romney’s election night HQ was located at Southern New Hampshire University, and Romney won the New Hampshire primary with 39.3 percent of the vote that night.
Gear Connection spent 3 full days building out the multi purpose space into a TV Set, flying a full truss grid over the main stage to provide rigging points for the TV lighting as well as house audio, in addition to an elaborate press riser and a 3-sided tiered audience seating area. LED Lighting was used to accent the space and campaign collateral and a Yamaha LS9 was used as the Audio console to control the sound in the room as well as provide 96 channels of press feed.
The name "Gabby" comes from the acronym "Greek America's Best and Brightest Stars" and the Gabby has quickly become the top achievement awards for Greek North Americans. The awards are based on a purely meritocratic system that involves a 100-member Academy that determines the nominees, followed by a popular vote via the internet. The 2013 Gabby Award After Party was held at the historic Paramount Pictures Studios lot, where all guests were treated to an unforgettable event complete with a live music performance by Greece’s number one pop singer, Helena Paparizou.

An annual Easter Sunrise service held at the tennis stadium of the Stub Hub Center (formerly the Home Depot Center) in Carson California. The Easter message is delivered by Senior Pastor Steve Mays who is joined by the Southbay praise band, a 400-member community choir, as well as featured guest artists like the gospel reggae band Imisi and Crystal Lewis.
Gear Connection has been providing production services for this prestigious event since 2009. Utilizing specially designed speaker dollies comprised of JBL Vertec VT4889 Line Arrays and our proprietary McCauley loaded subwoofers, we are able to deliver clear and intelligible audio coverage for the non-traditional performance venue. An extensive microphone package from Shure, Sennheiser, and AKG is used to accommodate the large number of vocals and instruments, and a Yamaha PM5D-RH handles the mixing duties at Front of House (FOH). JBL SRX712M monitors powered by QSC Powerlight amplifiers provide fold-back for the singers and musicians on stage. Lighting for the event is handled through the use of Elation LED Opti Tri Pars and Source Four Lekos, rounded out by free standing crosses made out of Truss.

Gear Connection took on the responsibility of designing the entire set, advancing the show with artist management, and providing an integrated solution that fit the client's budget. Building a 40' x 40 stage, with Truss PA Bays featuring a JBL Vertec Audio rig, and an all LED Lighting System, the show was a huge success.
CONQUEST began in 2004 to bring together athletics, academics, school spirit and traditions in the week leading up to the USC-UCLA rivalry football game. The evening consist of performances by The Trojan Marching Band, the world famous USC Song Girls, Spirit Leaders, USC Competition Cheer, Trojan Dance Force and a headlining performance from a National touring music act. Fall varsity sports introduce their senior athletes, and coaches take the stage to recognize the senior players, the pep-rallyconcludes to a ceremonial bon-fire and fireworks.
Each year since it began, Gear Connection has provided Complete Technical Event Production for the event. Designing and building everything from the Staging, Rigging and Electrical Systems, to supplying Concert Audio Systems, Stage Lighting Packages, Moving Lights, Video Projection, and a (4) Camera live shoot.
City of Hope and Santa Fe Communications hosted a Latin Music Festival at Hollywood Park Racetrack in support of their annual La Gota de la Vida campaign to support City of Hope, a leading biomedical research and treatment institution for cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Renan Almendarez Coello, "El Cucuy de la Manana," served as emcee for the show, and performers included Ezequiel Pena, Yolanda Del Rio, Voces Del Rancho, Carmen Jara, Karyme Lozano and Tierra.
Gear Connection supplied (32) Vertec VT4889 Speaker Cabinets along with (24) Dual 18" McCauley Subwoofers to provide audio coverage for the 800ft wide Grandstand, as well as Yamaha Digital Mixing Consoles, a Complete JBL Stage Monitor System, and a Conventional/Moving Light Package.
HOT 92.3FM and Levitt Pavilion Pasadena provided fans an intimate, up-close experience with Grammy-nominated performer, Brian McKnight, when the acclaimed singer/songwriter performed at the Benefit Concert in Memorial Park. Billed as one of the greatest live concerts on the Levitt stage, McKnight was on his “Just Me” Tour and along with his famous hits, also performed new songs from his new double disk album.
Gear Connection's own Arik Perelman handled the mixing duties at Front of House, driving the Crown powered JBL Vertec rig from a Yamaha PM5D console. GC's Mike Delia was the monitor engineer supplying the mix to the artist's Shure PSM900 IEM systems from an Avid SC48 console.
The Port of Long Beach 100th birthday party at Pier E. The Party featured historic displays, rides, food and music--free to the public. Actor Robert Wagner, was a featured speaker and narrated "Faces of the Port - Celebrating 100Years" a movie about the Port of Long Beach.

Confetti shot through the air, the Spirit of Troy played the USC fight song and faculty, staff, students, alumni and university officials lifted two fingers in a victory salute as the university celebrated the newly named USC Sol Price School of Public Policy. USC president C. L. Max Nikias and USC Price dean Jack H. Knott were joined on stage in front of Lewis Hall by brothers Robert and Larry Price to officially announce the $50 million naming gift from the Price Family Charitable Fund to honor the life and legacy of entrepreneur and philanthropist Sol Price.
Gear Connection provided Audio support for the event using JBL's VRX932LA Compact Line Array Speakers flown from Penn-Fabb Speaker Towers. The Avid Venue SC48 was used to handle of the microphone and playback inputs, as well as to provide audio feeds to the press.
The annual USC football season kickoff BBQ - "Salute to Troy", is held in August at Cromwell Field on campus. Trojan fans are invited to partake in the celebration of USC's Football Tradition, the introduction of the current team, as well as tributes to the 50th and 25th anniversary teams. Fans get to meet the players, take pictures with them and collect autographs. The Spirit of Troy Trojan Marching Band performs with appearances by the Song Girls and Traveler.

Annual Undergraduate and Graduate Commencement Ceremony held at the University Athletic Field on the campus of California State University Los Angeles. Each year over 6,000 students participate in the graduation ceremony while the University hosts over 30,000 friends, family, and guests over the course of two days.
Gear Connection provides Complete Technical Event Production for this enormous scale event, supervising the 5 day build-out as well as staffing the actual ceremony. The production involves hundreds of feet of Trussing, including a 45ft tall Self-Climbing grid that supports a 35ft Wide LED Video Wall. A 53ft HD Video Production truck equipped with (6) Broadcast cameras provides the live feed to the Video Wall, as wells a Digital Fiber Optic feed with embedded audio to the local TV station, Webcast, and a Campus Wide Closed Circuit system used for overflow. A massive (20) cabinet JBL Vertec VT4889 Sound System supplies the Main Sound reinforcement for the ceremony, with another (24) JBL VRX932LA cabinets on delay lines for used rear fills.

Gear Connection supplies a complete, turn-key, JBL Sound System for the event made up of (16) JBL Vertec VT4889's and (10) JBL VRX932LA's used for Mains. Each year incoming students enter into the Trojan Family beginning with the University of Southern California’s New Student Convocation. The ceremony features a welcome from the vice president of Student Affairs, remarks from USC president C. L. Max Nikias and greetings from the academic deans.
Gear Connection supplies a time aligned PA System for the park through the use of the JBL Vertec line array system hung from a specially designed Truss Arch on each side of the Main Stage and numerous clusters of JBL VRX932LA compact line arrays strategically placed throughout the park. A dedicated monitor console and engineer supply reference for the VIP Platform Party through an extensive Stage Monitor system.
Jackie Lacey made history on December 3rd, 2012, when she was officially sworn in as the District Attorney of Los Angeles County. In addition to being the first female, Lacey is also the first African-American to oversee the largest public attorney’s office in America. More than 1,200 friends, supporters, law enforcement officials and countless elected officials gathered at the Galen Center for the Oath of Office Ceremony.

USC president C. L. Max Nikias and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger hosted the opening symposium of the USC Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy on Sept. 24, 2012. The event, which drew nearly 1,000 attendees and more than a dozen national and international news media outlets to the University Park Campus, featured thought leaders from the realms of politics, science and entertainment who participated in panels on “Political Leaders’ Views on the Importance of Post-Partisanship,” “Local Solutions to Global Problems” and “The Power of People and Innovation.”
Gear Connection was once again called upon to provide an integrated Audio Visual solution for the high profile event. A pair of 16:9 Projection Screens and Sanyo HD DLP Projectors were flown from a suspended truss grid to provide IMAG and graphics support for the audience in attendance, and 60" Flat Screens were used towards the back of the hall. A suspended JBL VRX line array provided the main sound reinforcement system, with low profile QSC K8 powered speakers on delay lines for audio support in the rear. (12) Channels of Shure UHFR+ Wireless Microphone Systems paired with Shure's MX150 Lavs were used to mic each of the panelists and a Dugan Automixer card inserted into a Yamaha PM5D-RH provided for a seamless mix throughout the day.

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger hosted an immigration reform event featuring U.S. Sens. John McCain and Michael Bennet, co-authors of a bipartisan immigration reform bill. Former U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez and USC professor Dowell Myers discussed the importance of immigration reform to the U.S. economy and jobs. Former President of Mexico Vicente Fox closed the event by providing a global perspective on U.S. immigration reform.
Gear Connection provided Sound reinforcement for the discussion, using Yamaha digital audio consoles, Shure UHFR+ wireless microphone systems with MX150 Lavalieres, and JBL's VRX speaker enclosures powered by Crown amplifiers. HD Video projection was achieved with Sanyo DLP projectors and Stumpfl 16:9 Screens fed by an Analog Way OPS300 HD Switcher. Gear Connection also provided a complete Production Intercom solution using a combination of ClearCom Tempest 2400 wireless systems along with hardwired RS-601 drops. ETC Source Four Lekos on ETC Smartpack Dimmers were used in conjunction with Arri T1 Film Lights to light the stages for Television.
Carly Fiorina is an American former business executive and a former California Republican candidate for the United States Senate. Fiorina served as chief executive officer of Hewlett-Packard from 1999 to 2005 and previously was an executive at AT&T and its equipment and technology spinoff, Lucent. On June 8, 2010, Fiorina won the Republican primary election for Senate with over 50 percent of the vote, beating Tom Campbell and State Assemblyman Chuck DeVore. The 2010 United States Senate election in California took place on November 2, 2010. Barbara Boxer won the general election, defeating Fiorina 52.2% to 42.2%.
Hot off the campaign trail with "Steve Poizner for Governor", Gear Connection shifted it's production resources to provide even more intense support for Carly Fiorina's US Senate campaign. Touring with the Fiorina campaign proved even more challenging as this campaign had National implications and received constant attention from the National Media. Once again, Gear Connection faced the challenge head on and provided continuous, failure-free, technical production the entire way, culminating in a nationally televised Election Night Headquarters held in Irvine, CA
Steve Poizner is an American businessman, entrepreneur and Republican politician, who was elected State Insurance Commissioner of California in November 2006, and concluded the 4-year term in January 2011. Poizner was a candidate for the California gubernatorial election, 2010; He was defeated in the June Primary by former CEO of eBay, Meg Whitman who spent a national record $100 million in the primary.
The Commissioner's gubernatorial campaign was the first real opportunity for Gear Connection to provide production services for a high profile political campaign. For over 3 months, day in and day out, Gear Connection followed the Commissioner up and down California providing production support for every press conference, rally, and town hall meeting. It was the high paced and dynamic nature of this campaign that provided invaluable experience in political production tactics and in turn led to a lot of future work with political campaigns.
Los Angeles mayoral hopefuls City Councilman Eric Garcetti and City Controller Wendy Greuel met in a debate Tuesday, April 22, to discuss education, the role of the city’s police department and how they would buoy LA’s economy. Held less than a month before the election, the debate was co-hosted by NBC4 Southern California and its Spanish-language partner Telemundo52.
Gear Connection worked closely with the team from NBC to provide a live-broadcast production package which included Set-Design, Lighting, and Audio. As well as providing feeds to the TV trucks, Press Bridges, and the overflow areas outside the venue.

Gear Connection provided a complete solution seamlessly integrating a rear projecton video screen into the wall of the temporary outdoor structure through the use of a "black-out tent". Suspended QSC K Series speaker enclosures were used to provide Audio coverage for the intimate venue, along with Source Four lighting instruments to wash the stage.
The Anatolian Cultures and Food Festival is a cultural and historical event that includes exhibitions, food, art craft, performances, dances and live music activities. More than 45,000 people from United States and around the world attend the four-day event each year.
Gear Connection is the sole source A/V vendor for the event, providing everything from the 60ft Main Concert Stage outfitted with a JBL Vertec Sound System and a 80K Lighting Rig, to the multiple smaller sound systems throughout the festival village, dozens of Video Monitors for exhibits, and even an area wide 70 Volt Public Address system that covers the expansive Orange County Fairgrounds.
Founded and directed by trumpet player Cindy Shea in 1999, Mariachi Divas have been making big waves on the national music scene ever since. Mariachi Divas are a Grammy-nominated, unique, multi-cultural, all female ensemble, imbued with the true flavor of Los Angeles.
Gear Connection was pleased to provide the Audio System for the all female group as part of the Grand Opening Celebration for the New Student Union at Cal State LA. EAW KF650z speaker cabinets complimented by proprietary McCauley loaded Subwoofers were used as the Main Front of House PA System. (14) JBL SRX712M monitors on (14) individual mixes provided the necessary fold-back for the artists. An extensive microphone package was provided as well to individually mic every instrument and vocal.
The Orpheum Theatre is one of L.A.'s most venerable landmarks. From vaudeville performances in the 1930's to a recent filming of the hit TV show "American Idol", this renowned venue has hosted an array of theatrical productions, concerts, awards shows, television shows, and much more.

The John Anson Ford Theatres complex is one of the oldest performing arts venues in Los Angeles still in use. The Ford strives to be a world-class community performing arts center that celebrates and reflects the diversity of the people of Los Angeles.
Gear Connection started to service the venue's Audio needs in 2002 by regularly supplying Stage Audio and Monitor Packages for many of the regular season shows. Over the course of the following few years, we installed an EAW KF650z Sound System, upgraded the Mixing Consoles, and finally added a permanent EAW Stage Monitor system powered by QSC Amplifiers. Proud to have been a part of the theatre's rise to new prominence, The Ford holds a special place in our company's history as our first venue client.
Originally named the Fox Wilshire, the theatre opened its doors on September 19, 1930. In 1981 the Wilshire Theatre was renovated and converted to a stage venue. For a number of years, the venue had hosted numerous theater productions and concerts. Now named Saban Theatre, it is open for theatrical rentals, concerts, television shoots, religious events and more. The Richard Nixon Foundation is a privately supported, non-profit institution dedicated to educating the public about the life, legacy, and times of the Thirty-Seventh President. As a performing arts center for public affairs, the Foundation’s year-round programming features national policy conferences, study groups, town meetings, school editor forums, and a continual schedule of distinguished speakers and authors from government, politics, the media, and public affairs. The Fashion Fighting Famine 2013 Fashion Show was held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Irvine, California. An annual event featuring runway collections from Australia, Dubai, London, Pakistan, Paris, and the United States, the event draws thousands of attendees in an exciting evening of fashion and "shop-for-a-cause" fun. With a live performance by world-famous Yuna Zarai, a runway and presentation fashion show, and incredible bazaar offerings, the event milled with excited guests and fashionistas from around the world.
Gear Connection provided complete production support for the event, ranging from a High Definition Video Projection and Playback System, to Runway Lighting and Audio Systems throughout the venue.
An annual company awards banquet for one of the largest tire retailers in the nation. Once again, Gear Connection was asked to provide an ALL-IN solution which included a motorized/suspended Truss Grid, JBL VRX Line Array Speakers, a Lighting System comprised of LED and Conventional fixtures, as well as Moving Lights & Custom Gobos, and lastly Video Play back support through out the ballroom.
An annual 3-Day International Young People's Conference held at the LA Bonaventure Hotel. Meetings and Panel discussions in the various breakout rooms throughout the day, gave way to General Sessions followed by Music and Various Entertainment by night. The conference was attended by over 5,000 people from all over the globe.
In the Main Ballroom Gear Connection supplied a turnkey, staging, trussing, audio, video, and lighting system, including IMAG and remote Audio/Video feeds to overflow sections of the hotel. We also provided AV support for the numerous break out sessions, panels, and peripheral events held over the course of the 3-day weekend.

The company held an annual 3-Day Sales Conference for their executives and associates at the Orange County Hilton.
Gear Connection provided an Integrated Stage Audio, Video, and Lighting system, along with Stage Props, Architectural Lighting, and an upstage Kabuki Drop that revealed a "7 Series" BMW sedan hidden behind the stage. Remote audio/video feeds to overflow rooms through out the hotel property were provided and served many functions from overflow to multi-lingual translation.

The Company hosts an annual, 3-Day Summit for its employees, contractors, and business partners at various locations throughout Southern California.

The inaugural gathering of the Widney Society brought together some 350 donors and guests. The gala dinner took place, fittingly, outside Widney Alumni House, the university’s original building, with a program celebrating the five attributes of the ideal Trojan — as well as a special performance by Gladys Knight.
Through the use of a Meyer Melodie array, Yamaha PM5D Digital Consoles, and a JBL stage monitor rig, Gear Connection was able to provide a unique blend of proper Audio coverage with an unobtrusive aesthetic integrity worthy of the setting. Additionally, Gear Connection was tasked with the responsibility of providing an effective communication solution for the entire production team. This was successfully achieved through the use of our ClearCom Tempest 2400 wireless package in conjuction with (20) ClearCom hardwired drops.
